As the years passed and I studied God's word also listening to my pastor and Christian radio. I felt something was wrong what I heard from my pastor and those on the radio did not seem to fully line up with God's word. I became very confussed searching daily for understanding. Since I had no understanding of God's word perhaps I was wrong and they were right. Yet I could not shake this feeling God wanted to tell me something different within in His Word.
This was the start of my long walk to find truth in God's word. As I said before, paths that would lead me in many directions, paths that lead straight to hell, and paths that lead me through the wilderness for many years. Then I found a very ancient path that lead me into this beautiful light, where I found the Messiah and His Father, full of light and truth. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways achnowledge Him, and He will make your path straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
As the Holy Spirit lead me through scripture and helped me to see God's truth within His word. I can only plant a seed and then let the Holy Spirit water this seed. Only you can deside what you want to believe. Just remember there is only one path to God. Only God can judge the heart of any believer. I would say to any believer who is searching for truth to examine what you believe. NEVER let your pastor or any one else tell you what to believe. Your salvation should be your number one goal in life.
Here is a warning from Paul for every Christian. "I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ for a different Gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!" (Galatians 1:6-9)
When I started reading God's word starting in Genesis all the way through Malachi, then the New Testament. I found the New Testament lined up perfectly with Genesis to Malachi. I was amazed! During my time in the wilderness the Holy Spirit lead me through scripture's that helped me find the real Messiah. So where did I find the Messiah? I would have to answer it was the Old Testament only.
"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel." (Isaiah 7:14) "For a child will be born to us, a son is given to us; and the goverment will rest on his shoulders, and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace, There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore, The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this." (Isaiah 9:6-7)
First, I found the Messiah in Isaiah and the fulfillment of Isaiah in the New Testament. "Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which translated means, God with us."
(Matthew 1:23) Isaiah tells us that this child who is to be born that his name will be Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. This child will set on the throne of David as King in His kingdom. We know this can be no other then Jesus. As God holds many names and titles, Jesus also holds many names and titles. The Word of God, the Son of God, the Messiah, the Son of David, the Son of man, the Branch, the Stem of Jesse. He is also called the Shephard, Prophet, Lamb of God, High Priest, and King. If we do not understand who Jesus is, how can we know Him?We will go through the Scripture's, and let the word of God tell us who the Messiah is. I believe the word of God can speak better then anyone else can. So many times we like to take God's word by adding our own beliefs. Again I say let God interpret His Word. His word is not hard to understand. When Yeshua (Jesus) and the Apostles were teaching, they had no books as we do today. There wasn't any New Testament written yet. Only the scrolls that were read in the synagogue every Sabbath (Saturday, not Sunday ).
Since we know Yeshua was Jewish and from the tribe of Judah, we need to ask some questions. Where in scripture does it say the Old Testament that Jesus taught from was done away with and no longer needed? Did Jesus start a new religion? Did He do away with God's commandments (Torah/Laws)? Could Jesus forget His Father, who had sent Him in His Name and teach another gospel? These are the questions we need to ask.
Most Christians today go to Church, sit down and warm the pews, and listen to their pastor and believe everything he says. Then they go home and lay their Bible on a shelf where it stays collecting dust until next Sunday. Or they may read the verse's the pastor read, and go no further. Do we as believers stand on man's word or do we listen to Jesus and stand on His word that came from the Father?
Since there are over 300 Messianic Prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament, those had to be fulfilled within the New Testament. Do you know how many Old Testament prophecie's Jesus has fulfilled? Do you know how many Old Testament prophecie's still need to be fulfilled by Jesus? " Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15)
What did Yeshua mean in Matthew 5:17-19? "Do not think that I come to abolish the Law or the prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truely I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Yeshua used the word abolish not once but twice. I believe Yeshua wanted us to understand that He did not come to do away with God's Torah. You may not want to accept the fact that Yeshua, never stopped being Jewish and kept all the customs and traditions of His people. Yet that is who Yeshua was and is He was born a Jew and died a Jew.
So then how could Yeshua say He had done away with the law? When He said, in the next verse until heaven and earth pass away not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the law until all is accomplished. Was He confused? No, since heaven and earth is still here, the Torah/ Laws were not done away with by Yeshua. All has not been accomplished yet. The word fulfill, is to cram full, make complete, in other words, to fill it full. Abolish and fulfill are used as part of scholarly debate and discussion between two or more Jewish men. Abolising would be canceling the Torah if he misinterpreted, thus nullifying its intent. If he fulfilled it, he had properly interpreted scripture. Yeshua came to bring the correct interpretation and understanding of the law. Here is a good example on murder and adultery. (Matthew 5:20-22; 27-28)
Yeshua now gives a warning to believers; "Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven." What did Yeshua just tell us? When you annul even one of the commandments, you may be saved but you will be the least in the kingdom. No one can change God's word, not the Church Fathers, not your pastor or and certainly not you. You decide, do you want to be great or least in the kingdom of God? "but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
We will look at two witnesses, Isaiah and Micah on the law. "Now it will come about that in the last days the mountain of the house of the Lord will be established as the chief of the mountains, and will be raised above the hill; and all the nations will stream to it. And many peoples will come and say, come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; that He may teach us concerning His ways and that we may walk in His paths. For the law will go forth from Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem." (Isaiah 2:2-3)
"And it will come about in the last days that the mountain of the house of the Lord will be established as the chief of the mountains. It will be raised above the hills, and the peoples will stream to it. Many nations will come and say, come let us go to the mountain of the Lord and to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us about His ways and that we may walk in His paths. For from Zion will go forth the law, even the word of the Lord from Jerusalem." (Micah 4:1-2) When I see God speaking the same words by two different prophets I pay attention! Hopefully you will also take notice and listen.
Has God set down two sets of rules to follow, one for the Jewish people, and another for the Gentiles? Where could we find something like that in scripture? No where, since we know God is the God of Abraham, the God of Issac and the God of Jacob. (Exodus 3:6) "O Lord, my strength and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of distress, to You the nations will come from the ends of the earth and say, our fathers have inherited nothing but falsehood, futility and things of no profit." (Jeremiah 16:19) Our Church Fathers have given us false beliefs built on antisemitism againt the Jewish people. If you do not believe me, read for yourself what our Church Fathers taught.
"Thus says the Lord of hosts, In those days ten men from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew, saying, let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you." (Zechariah 8:23) God tells us all through the Old Testament and New Testament that Israel will be saved. Isaiah tell us with an everlasting salvation, everlasting means everlasting. (Isaiah 45:17; Romans 11:26; Isaiah 59:20) Gentiles are grafted into Israel, as Paul tells us we are grafted in among them and become partaker with them of this rich Olive tree. (Romans 11:17) Jews and Gentiles are now one in Messiah, this does not mean Jews become Gentiles, and Gentiles do not become Jews. We are two seperate units and yet one in the Messiah. As believers we must always stand on God's word and not on man made doctrines and myths. Paul tells us "work out your salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippians 2:12)
"Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, and a branch from His roots will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord." (Isaiah 11:1-2) This is refering to Jesse the Father of David the king of Israel. We know the Branch here is Jesus who will set on the throne of David as king. "In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall excute justice and righteousness on the earth." (Jeremiah 33:15) Then in that day the nations will resort to the root of Jesse, who will stand as a signal for the peoples; and His resting place will be glorious." (Isaiah 11:10)
"He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will rein over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end." (Luke 1:32-33) As I said before we need to understand the house of Jacob is Israel, the Gentiles receive the promises made to Abraham by God. (Genesis 17:5; Galatians 3:8-9) What was the inheritance the Father give His Son Jesus? "He who sits in the heavens laughs, the Lord scoffs at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury, saying, but as for me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain. I will surely tell of the decree of the Lord: He said to Me, You are my Son, today I have begotten you. Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession." (Psalm 2:4-8)
In the New Jerusalem there will be twelve gates to pass through. "It had a great and High wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names were written on them, which are the names of the tribes of the sons of Israel." (Revelation 21:12) "See to it that no one takes you captive through philosphy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority." (Colossians 2:8-10) Which one of those twelve gates would you pass through?
Within Scripture Jesus is called the Shepherd and the believer's His sheep. "From the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob (from there is the Shepherd, the stone of Israel)." (Genesis 49:24b). We know the Shepherd and stone of Israel is no other then Yeshua the Messiah. "For this is contained in scripture: Behold, I lay in Zoin a choice stone, a precious corner stone, and He who believes in Him will not be disappointed." (1 Peter 2:6) "For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls." (1 Peter 2:25)
When we put the Old and the New Testament together as one book then we have the full truth of God's word. You may say I do not believe what you have said in this article is true. That will be between you and God you will stand before Him one day to be judged. If you do believe me, let the Holy Spirit water the seed that has been planted. "And Jesus said to them, therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out his treasure things new and old." (Matthew 13:52)
This is how I see the Old and New Testament. A treasure chest filled full of God's word. I could never fully understand the Father or Jesus without the Old and New to tell me who they are. My treasure chest is full of prophecie's waiting to be fullfiled within the old and new. I take my chest filled with God's word as a precious treasure that helps me to live a righteous life. We should always seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.
"Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has rapped the waters in His Garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth. What is His name or His son's name? Sureley you know. Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a lier, Two things I asked of you, do not refuse me before I die; Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is my portain That I not be full and deny you and say, who is the Lord? Or that I not be in want and steal, and profane the name of My God." (Proverbs 30:4-9)
"Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way. When his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are those who put their trust in Him." (Psalm 2:12) Now we will continue on to the next article on Yeshua and salvation. Searching for the truth on Yeshua, who is He?
